The recycling centre in Kehlen has been in operation since December 1994. Residents of the SICA communities can hand in a wide range of recyclable materials and ‘harmful’ waste at the recycling park and receive advice from waste experts.
The recycling centre
Important
Companies and other commercial enterprises must register by telephone before their visit.

Among other things, you can hand in items free of charge at the recycling centre:
- Recyclable waste, such as: certain plastics, paper, glass, cardboard, building rubble, wood, electrical and electronic equipment, scrap metal, old clothes, window panes, rubber products, green waste and leaves.
- Items that you no longer need but are still usable, e.g. books, records, CDs, video and music cassettes, lamps, toys, school materials, glasses, cutlery, sports equipment, bicycles, musical instruments,…
- Hazardous waste (SuperDrecksKëscht), such as paints, varnishes, acids, batteries, fluorescent tubes, aerosol cans,…
However, the recycling centre is more than just a collection point for recyclables:
- Brochures and information sheets on the subject of waste are available here.
- Our employees will be happy to answer any questions and accept suggestions and criticism.
- The green bags for the collection of packaging material (PMG-Valorlux), SuperDrecksKëscht – boxes for the collection of problem waste and special containers for the collection of kitchen grease, as well as syringe collection containers, are available free of charge at the recycling centre.
- During your visit, you can also take a look at our second-hand shop. Perhaps you will find a book, a vase, a piece of furniture or something else that you would like to take with you free of charge. (Applies only to residents of the SICA communities).
Organic waste
The organic waste from the organic waste bin is now recycled at the Mamer composting plant, where valuable compost is made from the organic waste produced.
Residents of the SICA municipalities can collect small quantities of compost free of charge from the Recycling-center in Kehlen
Please bring your own containers (bags, buckets, …) for filling the compost.
Larger quantities (trailers) can be picked up at compost plant in Mamer.
The compost is distributed free of charge to the inhabitants of the 8 member municipalities: Bartringen, Garnich, Kehlen, Koerich, Kopstal, Mamer, Habscht (only residents of the former municipality of Simmern) and Steinfort.
